Beauty Haul/Brag: $130 in Products From Ulta for $2.64

You read that correctly. I scored over $130 in products from Ulta for $2.64. In fact, I will be getting $3.82 cash back from Ebates, so you could say I made $1.18 on my order. (Click here if you want to read more information about Ebates).

So here is how I did it. I used a coupon for $3.50 off of my order and then 2000 Ulta reward points for an additional $125 off. In addition to the products I ordered, I also received a huge bag of samples (Platinum Perk) which Ulta said was valued at $238. That doesn’t take in the free samples, the other gift with purchase item or that the Ulta sets that I ordered were valued at $66. If you add everything up, that makes it over $500 in value for less than $3 out of pocket.

No, I didn’t spend $2000 dollars at Ulta to get 2000 reward points. Theoretically, if I timed my purchases correctly, I could get 2000 point from $381 in purchases. That would mean $125 off my next purchase for spending $381. That’s quite a bit of money and I certainly don’t spend that all at once for beauty products but $381 is considerably less than $2000.

I know I’ve seen various posts where people say they don’t really like Ulta’s reward program, that you don’t get a lot and it takes forever to get points. I don’t find that to be true at all. Keep reading if you want my tips on how to score free items and how to maximize your reward points. Plus pictures of everything I received in my order.

Items I ordered: (Plus the samples and gift with purchase)

Platinum Perk Sample Bag:

Some of these items will likely be in future giveaways. I have some of these items in full size, some products I won’t use, and I want to share the love.

Tips and Tricks:

First make sure you sign up for Ulta’s free reward program and opt in for emails. They send emails with 20% off coupons, gift with purchase products, and bonus point multipliers. They have 2 levels of their program. Once you have spent $450 in a calendar year, you become a platinum member in the reward program for the rest of that year and for all of the next year. The highlights that I like about the platinum level of the program is that your points do not expire, you earn 1.25 instead of 1 point for every point spent, and they send you more offers for gift with purchase sample bags.

The key is to be patient and strategic in your purchases. I like to make purchases when I either have a 20% off coupon, there is free sample bag (this one one featured in this post is loaded with a lot of product), and/or they have 2x, 3x or 5x points. If you are platinum level and you have activated the 5x points offer than you will get 5.25 points for every $1 you spend. If you spent $100 during that time you would receive 525 points which is already more than 25% of the way to 2000 points.

I almost always place orders online. I usually find most of the gift with purchase products are offered online only and not in store.

Also, bank your points. This is important. 100 points is $3 off, 250 is $8 off, 500 is $17.50 off, 750 is $30 off, 1000 is $50 off, and 2000 is $125 off. Obviously 2000 for $125 off is the best deal but at the very least I would bank 1000 points before using unless you are not at the platinum level and you have points expiring.

I hope these tips help you get more free products and maximize your Ulta reward points. Don’t forget to use Ebates when placing online orders with Ulta. (Here is the link again for Ebates in case you missed it up top).
